What is Dr Buzz Or Benzo Fury?
6-(2-Aminopropyl)benzofuran or 6 APB is a synthetic entactogen of the chemical classes of phenethylamine and benzofuran.
As it belongs to a benzofuran chemical class, it consists of a core of phenylethylamine that by virtue of an ethyl chain is linked to an amino group (NH2), with an additional methyl placement at R. 6-APB don’t possess methyl substitution at RN position, as seen with MDA.
6 apb consists of a oxygen that is substituted at benzofuran ring which is fused at R3 and R4 position of the phenyl ring.
6 APB, a non-neurotoxic substance, was studied by a medicinal chemist and psychedelic researcher David E. Nichols, and he first synthesized it in 1993 for psychotherapy, and also as an alternative to MDMA.
It has become available online, and can be obtained as research chemical from online vendors. It is marketed with other research chemical entactogens such as 5-MAPB and 5-APB.
There isn’t enough data available to clearly define the pharmacological properties, metabolism and toxicity of 6-APB, also its history in human usage is short. It has a potent entactogenic and stimulant effect, so it is advisable to take precautions and observe harm reduction practices as it can produce addiction and dependence if misused.
And if the addiction develops, the withdrawal effects may occur if their usage is abruptly discontinued.
Bioactivity of 6 APB
Pharmacologically, 6apb is a serotonin-norepinephrine-dopamine re-uptake inhibitor (SNDRI), having substantial Ki values for the norepinephrine transporter (NAT), dopamine transporter (DAT) and serotonin transporter (SERT). Other than these activities, 6-APB is a potent agonist and possesses higher affinity and selectivity (about 100 times higher than MDMA) for the serotonin receptor 5-HT2B. Also it acts as a releasing agent of these monoamine neurotransmitters.
As these neurotransmitters are involved in the modulation of brain’s capability to sense pleasure, motivation, reward etc, so when their re-uptake is inhibition or release is enhanced, the neurotransmitter gets accumulated within the synaptic cleft to exceptionally high level, this makes them available to be used again.
Due to this neuronal activation which is seen at different brain regions, it acts to result in physical stimulation, relaxation, disinhibition and euphoria. It is less likely to be cardiotoxic on long-term use because of its potent agonistic effect for 5-HT2B receptor.
It produces a very strong and long-lived array of enactogenic and mild psychedelic effects, which can be listed as anxiety suppression, disinhibition, heightened feeling of empathy, sociability and affection, muscle relaxation, distortion of perception and euphoria.
Expected Physical effects of Benzo Fury
According to subjective effects index and personal experiences, it has a range of physical, cognitive, paradoxical effect and after effects, whereas adverse effects can cause injury or death.
The most prominent physical effect is the ability of 6-APB to produce stimulation as well as sedation, so there is a mixed perception of bodily heaviness and lightness. It can also produce spontaneous physical sensations, physical euphoria, tactile enhancement, increased stamina and body control, temperature regulation suppression which can lead to increase in body temperature.
It can cause nystagmus, abnormal heartbeat, increased heart rate and blood pressure, increased perspiration, dehydration, dry mouth, difficulty urinating, decreased appetite, pupil dilation, excessive yawning, temporary erectile dysfunction, teeth grinding, seizure and various visual effects have been reported which includes color enhancement, pattern recognition enhancement, distortion of tracers and symmetrical texture repetition, geometry, hallucinatory state.
The cognitive effects that can occur are anxiety suppression, disinhibition, cognitive euphoria, empathy, increased sociability, novelty, focus and creativity is enhanced as well as immersion, motivation and emotionality, personal meaning, sense of humor.
The appreciation for music, mindfulness, increased libido, thought deceleration, wakefulness, time distortion and other auditory effects may occur. Individuals may experience existential self-realization, unity and interconnectedness.
After affects of this drug is anxiety, appetite suppression, brain zaps, cognitive fatigue, depression, derealization, sleep paralysis, irritability, decreased motivation, thought deceleration and disorganization, suicidal thoughts and wakefulness.
Dosage Information for 6APB
The minimum dose required to produce stimulant effect is 15 – 30 mg. For mild effects, a dose of 30 – 60 mg is sufficient, but most commonly 60 – 90 mg is given. Strong effects are seen when given in dosage of 90 – 120 mg and dose above 120 mg is considered a much heavy dose.
The total duration of action is 7 – 10 hours, with onset seen within 45 – 75 minutes, come up at 60 – 120 minutes and peak effects shown after 3 – 5 hours, while offsets at around 2 – 3 hours. However, their after-effects remain for about 6 – 48 hours after the last dose taken
